A Busy Few Weeks - AMHT Festival

Well it's been a busy few weeks. On the 28th June, my better half Julia and I took the DB9 up to the Aston Martin Heritage Trust Festival, which was celebrating the 100th birthday of the oldest existing Aston, A3. It was held at the Dallas Burston Polo Club which is in the Midlands near Royal Leamington Spa. I had seen A3 in May at Brooklands when it was reunited on the historic banking with 'Razorblade' the first Aston Martin single seater of the early 1920s. Here is A3 in pride of place in the AMHT's stand:

And here is A3 and Razorblade on the Brooklands banking - a pair of historic vehicles on a very historic site!

Back to the festival and after a trouble free and remarkably relaxed drive up, we got in and were presented with literally hundreds of Astons there - but pride of place was given to A3 at the AMHT stand. The visiting cars were segregated by age, with my DB9 and Julia in the Gaydon cars section among many, many DB9s, Vantages, DB11s and examples of every Gaydon car produced!

The festival was also all about the Aston Martin owners and their cars. Here's Julia and my DB9 alongside some other Gaydon era cars:

The 70s were well represented, here is a small selection of possibly my favorite Aston Martin - the 1970s V8s all lined up - true muscle cars with British sophistication thrown in:

And the forerunner of my DB9, the 1990s DB7 was well represented as well:

There were lots of pre WWII Astons to support A3:

Here is where the 'modern' Aston Martin began - the Two Litre Sports, retrospectivly named the DB1 of 1948:

Which was replaced with the DB2 in 1950. Another fine selection

And of course we couldn't have an Aston thread without showing the DB4, 5 and 6 could we? Here is the classic DB4 -

The classic James Bond DB5 with a twist - a pair of DB5 Volante soft tops:

And a rather tasty DB6:

So after a trouble free run home I was really happy with the car. It was the first long trip, and we covered just under 200 miles without any issues. The car was comfortable and ran faultlessly, and the fuel consumption crept up to the low twenties thanks to motorway cruising at the speed limit. All in all it was a great day out!
