Alfa Day at Goodwood

Had a great day on Saturday 15th June. My mate Dave bought a lovely original 105 Alfa Romeo Coupe last year and we took it to the Alfa Classics trackday at Goodwood. We had a nice easy drive down; to Farnham, the A287 down to Hindhead, then the A286 down to Midhurst and onwards to the circuit via cocking and Singleton. Relatively slow roads, but we bopped along at 40-50 mph quite happily,  and the Alfa's suspension and nice classic tyres coped admirably with the various potholes and dodgy road surfaces. The Alfa's ride was great and the drama much less than I found with my DB9 earlier this year going to the Members Meet, when the greater width and much lower profile tyres of the DB9 caused a certain amount of banging and crashing!

Getting the the circuit we weren't sure where to go but eventually got into the paddock where there was a fine selection of classic Alfas to play with. The weather was not great, with gusty wind and periodic showers, but the Alfa owners were an enthusiastic bunch and were more than happy to hurtle their cars - an assortment of 105s, Spiders, Giulia Saloons, GTVs and a couple of 75, around the track which was slowly drying out. With only a few people there, Dave and I watched the track action for most of the morning. While Dave wasn't going on the track in anger we were going to sneak onto the parade lap, but managed to miss it! So here are some pics of the action, with a Gulia saloon and a gaggle of 105 Coupes

All in all a great day out despite the weather! Its the Thruxton Classic next Saturday 22nd and the new Tweesledown car show just outside Fleet on Sunday 23rd where the Aston will be in the Supercar category.
