And now for the sparks....

Updated: Oct 26, 2020

The Plus 2 has been taxing my patience. Back in August I went to take it out after a couple of weeks of idleness, and it fouled its plugs and generated a lot of white smoke when it did eventually stutter into life. The white smoke is an issue I'm aware of and need to investigate, and on pulling the plugs, I noticed that the rear two were oiled up so something is not quite right - I suspect the head gasket is on the way out. However, after getting it running properly - new plugs - I also found that the left hand side rear indicator was not playing. So I had a fiddle with the wiring in the boot, and found I had no current running to the indicator. Investigating the switch in the cabin showed that it was working correctly, so the fault was somewhere behind the dash or under the carpet in the cabin. Not good. So I carried on chasing the fault, and eventually having found several wires which were live but just cut off, along with a nice domestic 'chocolate block' connector mounted on the heater in the passenger side footwell I decided to bite the bullet and rewire the car. This is the culmination of a lot of odd electrical problems the car has thrown up, so I ordered a new loom and the pulled the dash. At that point I found I had an email from my publishers reminding me that my latest book was due for delivery at the end of September - I'd thought it was due the end of November. Doh.

Rewiring was put on hold while I crammed three months work into one but now the weather has turned nasty and the clocks have gone back it is about to recommence....

A couople of pictures ORJ in the summer going for a run, and below that some of the rats nest of horrible wiring which is all going to be stripped out and replaced - note the domestic chocolate block connector which has no part to play in a vehicles wiring!
