Astons and Lotus Spagetti -

Now that lockdown is easing and we can actually get out and about, it's been a bit busy on the Aston Martin Book front - I've visited the owner of a lovely DB2 Mark III for pictures of the car in to interview him, and I've interviewed the owner of the first Bertelli era works car - LM1, and have been writing up these and other owners interviews. Heres the DB2 Mark III I went to see - a beautifully patinated largely original car still in daily use by the owner who bought the car 50 years ago:

And this is LM1 seen at the AMHT Festival where I met the owner:

Of course there are always coincidences in this game. Fellow Lotus (and Riley Elf and Domino pickup) owner Dave ran into a friend in the park on Monday, got chatting and was joined by another chap who knew Dave's friend - and this chap, who lives about 500 yards from me owns a DB2 Mark III which he and his father had raced. I've had a chat with him, the car will be featured in the book and it just goes to show how many classic cars are hiding in the garages in suburbia!

This morning I got Dave round to sanity check my dash wiring. I've labelled most leads, we found a few 'spare' ones, sanity checked what I had fitted and Dave pointed out that the Holden website showed the function of Lucas switch terminals - this should hopefully mean I'll have the wires on the right terminals. To mark up the dash wires I used sticky labels from Amazon which work really well. So here is the back of the dash on the bench hopefully ready to replace (once I've fitted the new radio) in the car:

Next step is to get the engine bay loom in and then join all three together and get testing.... hopefully that'll be the Lotus back up and running!
