...here comes the rain

It's the middle of June so it started raining yesterday and is still raining now, in the late afternoon. But never mind, because I've been in my garage, listening to old Chris Rhea and Eagles albums and pressing on with rewiring the Lotus.

I've got the rear loom in, and sort of tested and it all looks good. I did have to reroute the new loom a couple of times when I tried to refit all the boot trim which cost me some time! I was going to start on the dash loom (the big and awkward one) but first got distracted by making up some new speaker wires for the speakers on the rear parcel shelf. I then found that not only were the speakers knackered, but also the vinyl covering the shelf was too. Doh. So more work there. I've bought new speakers and a new radio cum bluetooth head unit which should be easy to fit as the dash is semi out.....

So just before I can start fitting the dash loom, I realised I'd need to tidy up the wiring from the column switches. Now the Lotus has had later switched fitted, which come from the BL parts bin and were featured on the last of the Europa. There work, and I quite like them so am keeong them. Their wiring left a bit to be desired. They are fitted with plugs to make removal easy and the wiring that connected the plugs to the old loom was horrible. Heres a picture:

So after a large amount of cutting off extraneous wires, and soldering bullets onto the remaining wires so I can fit them onto the new loom I was left with a much tidier looking set of wiring:

So now I can press on with the dash loom!

In the meantime, Poppy the ex-puppy is setting into the new garage:

So I'd better get on with getting the job done!
