Poole and Wiring.....

A busy week and weekend - I was off down to Poole to see a friend who featured in my Lotus Elite book - Roland Long - who also bought a DB9 in 2006 so is getting a mention in the Aston Martin book. A pleasant day was had with Roland, including lunch in the Royal Motor Yacht Club. This was all despite having to scrabble around to get enough fuel in my DB9 to get down there thanks to the 'fuel crisis', but it all worked out OK. Here's a shot of Roland's car at Poole Harbour:

And a shot of the pair of them at Roland's house:

The Plus 2 rewiring has been trundling along. As the car has an alternator, the three big wires going into the now redundant control box needed to be joined together, as the thee three smaller wires. so I bought a dual four way connector block which had two blocks of four smaller spades to modify. I made up a new block of larger blades by using the connectors from an old control box, which I bent over 90 degrees then riveted together. Then I removed one of the blocks of small spades and bolted the new set of larger blades in its place.

The newly made large blade block:

And with it bolted onto the combined joiner block:

And it wired up sitting on the wing ready to be bolted in place:

I have also been thinking about the existing wiring and wanted to use relays for the headlights and the heated rear screen. Vehicle wiring products do a relay box with four relays, so I bought one and wired it up to give individual relays for main, dip, spots and heated rear window. This is fed from the new fuse box, and with the two wired up I could work out where to place them and bolted them onto the car. And here are the relay box and fuse box mounted above the passenger footwell where the old fuse box was:

So that was (hopefully) the last part of the jigsaw and I can now press on and get the job finished! next task is to pop the dash back into the car and start to connect the three looms together....
